TOPIC: Any good how-to on writing custom templates

Hi

My event template is really big like it has 12-50 custom attributes ( variable upon the type of the selected event template )

The fields mostly are

1.)Text fields( with auto completion jquery effect)
2.)Multiple Selectable Dropdown
3.)Some datatime fields

Added to the above there is good amount of beautification that needs to be done

Since I am not at the expert level programmer to understand the crisp examples provided on the site ,If some one could share their understanding on what all places I have to modify the code in a bit more detailed way it will be of great help
